Oprah Winfrey is the world's first self-made billionaire. The chatshow host rose from being unimaginably poor - her family had no flushing toilets and they could rarely afford to buy Oprah shoes - to being one of the most influential and loved personalties in America. Her charity work is beyond impressive; she's founded a school in South Africa, as well as Oprah's Angel Network, which gives educational grants, and she personally donated $10m to rebuild homes after Hurricane Katrina - to name just a few causes she's put her weight behind.
